I’d like to become a Watauga firefighter; what do I need to do?

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certified or certifiable Firefighter/Paramedic OR
  • Currently have a Texas Paramedic License / Certificate issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • Education requirement minimum is High School diploma or GED
  • Age 18 -39 (Civil Service Requirements)

If you meet the above requirements, the City of Watauga will announce a testing date to conduct a general aptitude written examination for entry-level firefighter, followed by a physical agility test.

The physical agility test elements will include:

  • Ladder climb
  • Kaiser sled
  • Hose drag
  • Equipment carry
  • Dummy drag
