Message from the Mayor

Hello Watauga. This is my first Newsletter since taking office last month. And a busy month it has been. Besides my being sworn in as Mayor, we have 3 new additions to our City Council: Lovie Downey, Place 3, Andrew Neal, Place 4 and Juanita King, Place 5. We also have a new Mayor Pro Tem, Mark Taylor, Place 6. On our first day this Council handled one of the largest single agenda packets Watauga has ever had, 600 plus pages. I believe we may have also set a new record for the number of ordinances passed in a single night. Kudos to all involved. I welcome the members and look forward to working with them as well as existing members. I also look forward to working with our City Manager and all city staff.

Summer is almost here. As usual in North Texas we went from winter to summer with almost no spring. But we have had a lot of rain. So, check your yards for standing water and let’s all do our part to help keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay. And speaking of water, even though we have had plenty of rain, let’s also do our part to conserve. We all know what July and August will be like and maybe we can avoid or at least prolong mandatory water conservation.

Summer vacation is rapidly approaching too and our Recreation and Library Departments have many programs available to help keep our kids busy this summer. So give the recreation center a call and take advantage of the great deals and programs they offer.
And last but not least, great job by the Parks Department and all the supporting staff that made this year’s WataugaFest a huge success. Putting this event together and ensuring it runs smooth is no small feat.  Again, GREAT JOB!

Library Survey and Focus Group

2019 Watauga Public Library Survey & Focus Groups

Surveys of library users are part of the ongoing planning process. They are designed to discover the opinions of patrons about services currently available and suggestions for improvement. As part of the library needs assessment study we will be conducting a print and online survey this summer.  Also a series of interactive focus groups will take place. Look for the survey and details on the location and time of the focus group meetings on social media, the library webpage, and in the library newsletter. We need your help planning the future of your library.
