Watauga Public Library Earns Excellence Award

The Watauga Public Library has received the Achievement of Library Excellence Award for the fifth consecutive year. This award is given annually by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association to honor those public libraries which have shown a commitment to providing excellent service and programming for the communities that they serve.

This year only 44 libraries in the state were recognized with this award.  The award is based on a library’s achievement of excellence in ten categories, including Summer Reading Programs, Literacy Support, Collaborative Efforts, Enhanced Service, Cultural and Educational Programming, and Library Web Presence.

In FY16 the Watauga Public Library circulated over 278,000 items and welcomed over 119,000 patrons through the doors. The Library offered over 1200 programs with a total attendance of over 35,000 people. Over 18,000 Watauga citizens have library cards. A Watauga library card is a gateway to free downloadable eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines as well as books, book on CD, DVDs, music CDs, and over 70 databases.

The Library is located at 7109 Whitley Road in Watauga. Stop by, call 817.514.5864, or visit the website for more information.
